Hello Crafty Friends! Today I am doing projects that are all about the glitter. I have tested many types of glitter pastes and on several types of mediums and will post some pictures of those results here at the end of the blog. You can also check out my the video on Youtube for more of a in depth look at these methods.

So, let’s dive in and talk about glitter paste and similar like mediums. What is glitter paste you ask? Glitter paste essentially is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a paste or liquid glue medium that holds glitter or mica powder in suspension, so they may be used for craft projects, card making or make-up application. Most of these types of products are water based and non-toxic, but always double check the product label just in case. The different types of glitter and shimmer pastes that I’ve used in these examples are: Crafters Companion Glitter Paste, IZINK Diamond Glitter Paint by Aladine, Glitter Kiss by Cosmic Shimmer, Opal Polish by Cosmic Shimmer and Luna Paste also made by Cosmic Shimmer.

I tested each of these pastes on different types of mediums. I used 300 GSM Crafters Companion watercolor cardstock, 325 GSM Accent Opaque Digital white cardstock, 199 GSM Neenah Index white cardstock, and 240 GSM Spectrum Noir Premium Black cardstock for these demonstrations. Upon testing, I used stencils to test the ease of use and to achieve a clear design. If you have never painted with stencils, it seems pretty easy, but there’s a lot more work involved in it than you might think. You want to keep the stencil as sturdy as possible, to get a clean image. Many crafters will use washi tape or some type of spray adhesive to make sure that the stencil does not move. Also, a palette knife is generally used for application. You can also use a sponge or a stencil brush, depending on the type of paste you are using.

In the end, the results that I achieved were beautiful. It is imperative to have your finished project dry thoroughly before applying it to any card base or craft project, so it won’t smear. You can also stencil on a T-shirt or other types of materials (like leather, canvas, hats, etc.) but I’m not sure if the glitter paste that I used in this demonstration would wash off or not. But hey, if you have an old T-shirt laying around and you just want to try it out and see, give it a go and let me know your results. Stencils can also be used in journals, wall art, and many different types of applications for different projects. I feel that stencils are one of the many overlooked items in our stash that we could utilize a lot more of and get fantastic results from.

I will be posting the link to the YouTube video for this demonstration here shortly, so check back. Go ahead and dig out those stencils from your crafty stash and start playing with them. I think you’ll be surprised at some of the amazing results that you can get. I also have enclosed some affiliate links below for some of the products that I used, which means I will make a small commission if you choose to purchase any items associated with those links. If you’re interested in purchasing any items, it helps support the blog and my YouTube channel, and it is much appreciated. Happy Crafting! YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/_eQ4TrDrM08
